Vinatage Snapshot! - Rafts on the Rivers

This panorama of the Rivers of America at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom highlights potential raft congestion as guests are ferried to and from Tom Sawyer's Island.  The image dates from 1979.  Construction cranes can be seen on the right; work was well under way to bring Big Thunder Mountain Railroad to realization.  The docks for the Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes can be seen in the foreground.

I love this blog and love these vintage snapshots in particular. It would be great to see the snapshots at a higher resolution, though, so you could really see the detail. In the future, would it be possible to get a high-rez version when you click on the photos?

I was a cast member and worked at "Rafts" and "Canoes'" the summer when this picture was taken. Lines to get on the island was sometimes as long as 30 minutes and 3 rafts and a secondary dock on the island had to be used to keep up with the capacity. Remember there one only one park at the time and there were quite a few more people in the park at one time then.
