Even though it wasn't until 1943 that the government launched a Victory Garden program, there were private initiatives in the years before. Victory Gardens historically go back to World War I.

I was mistaken in the statement about VG-related cartoons--Warner Brothers Tale of Two Kitties is listed with a release date of November 1942.Jeffrey Pepperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00990997892044489714noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34647587.post-82459741222215195582008-08-31T21:53:00.000-04:002008-08-31T21:53:00.000-04:00Oh, I see. Victory Gardens were heavily promoted during the years 1943-1945 and it was then that most media tie-ins happened. It was during that time that Walter Lantz, MGM and Warner Brothers all produced Victory Garden related cartoons.

The closest thing I could find to Victory Gardens in a Disney cartoon were a couple of backyard plots that flash by very quickly in the background of the Goofy short Victory Vehicles which was released during the summer of 1943.Jeffrey Pepperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00990997892044489714noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34647587.post-77522506923297131142008-08-31T20:23:00.000-04:002008-08-31T20:23:00.000-04:00Side note to last post: Athough the cartoon didn'...Side note to last post: Athough the cartoon didn't dirctly mention Victory Gardens, we can assume that what the duck was planting as this was released during the begining of America's involvement in WWII.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34647587.post-34261930507362331292008-08-31T20:19:00.000-04:002008-08-31T20:19:00.000-04:00Disney did do somewhat of a animated cartoon about...Disney did do somewhat of a animated cartoon about Victory Gardens.
