The scene with the hairy-legged man always scared me at Disney World. I could never look up at him, always shut my eyes and crouched as if something was looking at me or going to reach out to me. On the ride at Disneyland it was so easy and comfortable to finally look up and see that the soles of his feet were dirty. No uneasy feeling whatsoever. It's almost like all the unnerved feelings have been explained.

I still try not to believe in ghost stories, but I'll definitely be telling George 'good morning/afternoon' and 'good night' when we go this winter. Thanks for the tale.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34647587.post-66707929121305586582012-06-09T14:01:15.943-04:002012-06-09T14:01:15.943-04:00Very interesting story! I, as a very logical and serious intellectual, do not believe one word of this ghost story. The fact that will never ride Pirates again nor will I but cotton candy at a stand close to the ride has NOTHING to do with this obvious myth.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34647587.post-50394312273637445872011-08-23T06:29:07.679-04:002011-08-23T06:29:07.679-04:00As a former MK Cast Member I can attest that altho...As a former MK Cast Member I can attest that although I never saw George I experienced breakdowns due to George's door being opened. I can no longer ride PotC without telling George I believe in him and I experience an eerie feeling during specific areas during the ride. I have seen his light on more times than not. I've also heard tales from PotC Cast Members about being tripped by George as well as random phone calls to the control tower without anyone on the other end. The way I see it... better safe than sorry! My son started freaking out a bit & wouldn't tell me what was up with him. He kept saying "oh,no,no" I didn't get it. The ride was interrupted with an announcement that they were experiencing technical problems & we will continue shortly. My son still wouldn't say anything except "I think I caused this". First reaction from me, "yeah right" I finally convinced him (after at least 10 min.)to tell me why he thought this. He said, "I said I don't believe in George" and as soon as he said this quietly & out loud, the lights in the entire location near the bridge with the pirate with the hairy leg, went on! The ride was stopped and we sat there for at least 25 minutes! It was too weird, and the timing was unbelievable! Yes, it scared the heck out of him. When we finally got off the ride our group was talking about what happened & I asked one of the podcasters about the George story. He immediately caught on to my inquiry & asked us if we said anything to George & told us everything he knew about it & told us we had to go back on & appologize to George. There was no way my son was going back on right then. We waited until our next trip a few months later & we went back to appologize. This time we looked for the light on & the door open, neither were. But still we wanted to be safe & say "sorry, we do believe" I never would have believed it, if I didn't experience it!Valerie L.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34647587.post-81611414104913636912009-04-23T08:34:00.000-04:002009-04-23T08:34:00.000-04:00I find FoxxFurr's website articles pretentious and...I find FoxxFurr's website articles pretentious and boring. She is obviously well-read and certainly writes well; however, her insistence that she is right and speaks for everyone who matters drips sarcastically off the page in every piece on her own website.
She reads much better in pieces such as this where she leaves herself out of the narrative as much as possible.
Knowledge of one's subject should be used as a lubricant to smooth the transition to your opinion, not as a cudgel to bludgeon some 'sense' into the reader.
FoxxFurr, you have many good ideas and I agree with some of them. I encourage you to take sole ownership for them. I think you'll find people will naturally gravitate to your point of view when led there instead of dragged.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34647587.post-13648536215225078512009-04-10T00:28:00.000-04:002009-04-10T00:28:00.000-04:00Well of course stories change each time they're re...Well of course stories change each time they're retold, so I have no doubt that the stories I was told differ from those told four years later and four years earlier.
